About South Motors 8K Zoo Run/walk
▶ When is the big race?
Race Day is set for March 29, 2014, with a 7:00 AM start time.
▶ Who can participate in The South Motors 8K Run/walk at Zoo Miami?
EVERYONE! The South Motors 8K Run/walk is a dynamic event that all runners and walkers will enjoy. Whether you are a run enthusiast, a family looking for a fun day out, or a company seeking an awesome team building activity, or whether you’re coming alone or coming with a big, HUGE, GIGANTIC group, the South Motors 8K Run/walk is the race for you! ▶ How long will the course be?
8 kilometers or (about) 5 miles.
▶ Who organized & designed the race?
Split Second Timing (SST) organized and designed the race. They will also provide the timing. Please visit www.splitsecondtiming.com for more information about SST.
SST is organizing and designing the race on behalf of EnForma.org, Inc. Enforma is a Miami-based company whose mission is to promote and support the local running culture. For more information, please visit www.enforma.org.
▶ How do I train for The South Motors 8K Run/walk at Zoo Miami?

▶ Will there be drinking water on the course?
Yes, there will be multiple water stations along the 8K course and one at the end. But always remember: hydrate properly the night before and morning of your race.
▶ Is there a time limit to complete the course?
No, there is no time limit – we want every runner to cross the finish line! A true runner never gives up.
▶ Will there be trophies?
Trophies will be given to the following:
1. First Place Finishers, Male and Female Overall;
In addition, Medals will be given to the top three (3) finishers in their respective age groups, male and female.
Finally, all Finishers will receive Commemorative South Motors 8K Zoo Run Medals!
▶ Can I wear a costume?
Yes – and be creative! We will feature the best costumes on our Facebook page!
Registration & Pricing
▶ How much is the registration?
Children age 7-14 may register for the Junior Mile Challenge ($20), and kids 4-6 can explore the Min Wild Safari Course for free with their parent’s(s’) supervision.
Adults $50 for the 8k.
▶Can I register or buy tickets at the event?
Race participants must sign up online by the deadline specified on each individual event page. Spectators are free and do not need to pre-register. They do need to check in at Registration on race day, however, and sign the The South Motors 8K Run/walk Waiver.
▶ Is there pre-race packet pickup?
Pre-Race Packet Pickup (wristband, timing chip, and bib) will be available at one of the South Motors Dealership locations. The specific store will be announced shortly.. Packet pick-up will also be available on race day, as well. To pick up a packet, you must preset your signed The South Motors 8K Run/walk Waiver and photo ID, which is emailed to all registrants prior to race day. You will receive your race finisher’s medal, t-shirt, and any other goodies at the finish line.
▶ What will I receive from The South Motors 8K Run/walk before race day?
Once your register, you will receive a confirmation email and update emails, as needed, along with any news about transportation and parking, accommodations, etc.
▶ Can I register to run on the day of a race?
Yes. However, advance registration does close out a couple of days prior to each event, in order to allow for our timing chip company to process the registrations and assign participants with bib numbers. Often times, we do have space available during certain times of the day of each race. Look for the “Race Day Registration” sign in the Registration area the day of the event to see what options are available to you. And, please show up at least one hour prior to the time you are interested in running. So make sure to bring your ID or your state issued driver’s license for proof of eligibility.
▶Can I pickup my teammate’s shirt, medal, bib on race day if they are unable to attend?
In the event of a participant’s injury or circumstances preventing them from attending to The South Motors 8K Run/walk, please contact enforma.org@gmail.com to discuss options about transferring the registration to a future event. We absolutely cannot transfer the registration to a future event if your shirt and medal are picked up by someone else on race day. Under no circumstances can we hand out a bib for a participant that is not physically present to show us proper state-issued photo identification on race day.
▶ Can I be on a team?
Yes! You can create a team when you register and then blast out a link to all your friends so they can sign up on your team! Teams are a big part of the event, so they fit right in at The South Motors 8K Run/walk.
▶ Do I need to be part of a team to participate?
No. Teams allow for organizations, businesses, friends, family, neighbors, you-name-it, to all share in the experience on the south motors 8k course, but you do not need to be part of a team to participate. A great majority of our Runners are not on teams. Some participants just find that creating a team is more fun and builds on the camaraderie of the event.
▶ What do I get as a South Motors 8K Run/walk Participant?
Well, besides getting the adrenaline-pumping feeling of leaping into action when the gun sounds, as well as the satisfaction in helping children receive the best in medical care – your participation in the South Motors 8K Zoo Run/walk includes some cool things to go along with the wildlife. Included with every racer registration is:
· Entry to The South Motors 8K Run
· Timing chip & runners bib
· For all participant a custom-designed T-shirt
· For all participant special completion medal
· A Donations in your name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
▶ Can I transfer a registration on race day?
Under no circumstances can a transfer take place on race day. Should you or someone you know want to run on race day and online, advanced registration is closed, they will need to register for themselves on race day at the “Race Day Registration” banner in the Registration area at the event. In the event of the original participant’s injury or circumstances permitting them from running, please contact enforma.org@gmail.com prior to race day to discuss options about transferring the registration to a future event. If you are attempting to transfer your registration to another participant, you will need to do so 7 days or more prior to event
▶ Can I get a refund?
No, unfortunately we will not give refunds.
▶ Will there be photos and where can I buy them?
Our partners at Wildside Online will be onsite at every event, catching you and your friends in all your glory! Runners can purchase photos and packages following the event, starting with the Week after race day. You’ll be able to search for photos by bib number or last name. Visit wildside online for details.
▶ What are the Rules of The South Motors 8K Run/walk?
Race Rules:
· All race participants must have a bib pinned to the front of their clothing to start the race.
· Alcohol may not be consumed prior to running the race.
· Runners must line up 10 minutes prior to starting time, and you must run the time you selected at registration.
· To run the The South Motors 8K Zoo Run, participants must be 14 years of age or older by race day.
· All The South Motors 8K Zoo Run participants must sign a South Motors 8K Run/walk Waiver form to enter the event.
· General Rules:
· No alcohol may be consumed by anyone under the age of 21. No alcohol may be consumed by anyone prior to running Hero Rush.
· No pets or children under 14 years old are allowed on the south motors 8k course.
· Spectators may attend for free
· Children age 7-14 may register for the Junior Mile Challenge ($20), and kids 4-6 can explore the Min Wild Safari Course for free with their parent’s(s’) supervision. Anyone under 18 who wishes to participate in the Junior or Mini Kid’s Adventure Course must have a South Motors 8K Run/walk Waiver form completed by a parent or guardian.
· By attending this event, you acknowledge that any photos or videos taken of you or your children may be used publicly for promotional or other purposes on websites, social media, print materials, television or other media.
· Participants and spectators must follow any direction given by race staff, volunteers or public safety personnel, or they will be removed from the event.
· Do not drink and drive.
▶ What should I bring (or not bring) to The South Motors 8K Run/walk?
What to Bring:
· Photo ID (You can’t Run without it!)
· Cash for food, drinks and cool merchandise. Registered runners and spectators ATMs will be available inside the event.
· Your signed South Motors 8K Run/walk Waiver
· Appropriate footwear
· Towel/change of clothing
· Lawn chair/blanket
· Your Wild Side Self
What Not to Bring:
· No weapons.
· No drugs.
· No coolers.
· No outside alcohol, food or beverages. Food and beverages will be available for purchase inside the event.
▶ What time should I get there?
Plan to arrive at least one hour before your start time so you can park, get your bib and timing chip, and get to the starting line.
▶ What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing.
If you want to wear a costume or body paint – be creative! The top 3 costumes will win a prize!
No matter what’s on your body, we recommend solid running shoes or other sturdy, appropriate footwear on your feet.
▶ Is there a place to check bags?
Yes, complimentary bag check will be available onsite, and donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will be encouraged.
▶ Can someone else pick up my packet?
No. You will need to show a valid and proper ID, along with a signed South Motors 8K Run/walkWaiver, to pick up your own packet.
▶ Do you cancel the event if the weather is bad?
If we must reschedule an event due to extreme and uncontrollable weather conditions which would make the event unsafe, we will announce via email, social media and our website as soon as possible.
▶ Does The South Motors 8K Run/walk have sponsorships available?
The South Motors 8K Run/walk’s Title Sponsor is, you guessed it: South Motor Company of Miami Dade County. Nevertheless, we are actively seeking local and national partners interested in sponsorship opportunities. Contact us for more information.
▶ How does south The South Motors 8K Run/walk find bands and vendors?
The South Motors 8K Run/walk is seeking musical acts and food, beverage and merchandise vendors who will bring local flavor to each event. Contact us for more information.
▶ How can I join the The South Motors 8K Run/walk Volunteer Crew?
Show your WILD side by volunteering at The South Motors 8K Run/walk! We’re looking for energetic and enthusiastic individuals and groups who want to go behind the scenes and help produce an amazing event. We need volunteers to staff the Registration Tent and Bag Check; to direct the runners along the race course; to work the water stations; to assist with crowd control and to assist in other areas! Volunteers will get a great South Motors 8K Run/walk T-shirt, lunch and snacks to keep you energized.
▶ What do Spectators get to do?
Great food and drink, vendors, two kids’ courses and some excellent spots for finish line viewing. Spectators are free, but must sign the same The South Motors 8K Run/walk Waiver as participants.
▶ How do Spectators register?
No pre-registration is required, just show up on race day and check in at the Spectator area in the Registration Tent. There is no fee for Spectators, however, you will need sign a The South Motors 8K Run/walk Waiver.
